Welcome to the first job of the rest of your life!

Looking for a physical copy? You can get Triangle Agency, The Vault: Missions for Triangle Agency, and game accessories from our shop.

Triangle Agency is a tabletop role-playing game about wielding enormous, reality-warping power while navigating bureaucratic red tape and juggling your everyday responsibilities. It seamlessly transitions between chilling horror, wacky comedy, and the emotional truth of trying to survive in a world with no right answers.

Number of players: 2-5 + a GM (General Manager)
Campaign length: 10-30 missions or a high energy one shot
Additional necessary materials:  Six four-sided dice (official Agency Dice available in our shop), character sheets (form-fillable and printable versions included with your purchase or available physically as The Triangle Agenda: Character Organizer)

The Game

The lives of normal citizens are under constant threat from supernatural Anomalies. You are a Field Agent for the Triangle Agency, an international corporation with influence in every industry, tasked with investigating and capturing these Anomalies. You have a specific set of powers from an Anomaly that bonded with you, obligations and relationships from your Reality, and a role that the Agency assigned to you based on analysis of your Competency.

In Triangle Agency's all-new Stability/Chaos rule system, action and conflict build naturally. When you roll, Anomalies gain Chaos to spend on the powerful effects and obstacles that your General Manager will describe. As you grow in power and prestige, you'll get the chance to peek behind the Playwall– over a hundred pages of secret material that is only unlockable by playing the game.

Want to learn more before you buy? Check out "Triangle Agency Sample Pages" in the demo section below for a free download of the first 23 pages of the book!

Where does the money go?

Haunted Table is a very small game design company designed to move as much money back to creatives as possible. A percentage of every sale goes to each member of the project's team– that's every writer, designer, editor, layout artist, and illustrator who worked on the book you're buying. The rest is used to keep websites running, stock books and supplies, create outreach to new players, and fund the design of additional supplements and games.

Check out the Haunted Table Patreon for early access to our games and supplements when they're ready for playtesting-- it launched with over 10k words of Triangle Agency rules and missions and gets new content monthly!

I did a step by step walk through of the character creation for this wonderful game on my blog! You can check it out here, and absolutely pick up the game for yourself!

I'd love to get a physical copy but it looks like you don't ship to Iceland, are there any partners that might?

I would check in with Modiphius in Europe -- that's the most likely option, I think!

hey, looked on the website and its out of stock, do you have any plans to restock? (the modiphius shop) just thought i'd ask or ay shop that'd ship to the UK?

We can ship to the UK from our store at shop.hauntedtable.games, but Modiphius will also be getting some more stock early next year!

I don't know if its just my edition, but the character organiser I received in the Normal Briefcase, has a misprinted page (showed an extra anomaly sheet instead of the character sheet) so technically I only had five usable agents sheets included.

Not a big deal since I can print them, but I wanted to let you all know in case it isn't just my printing

That's interesting!! I'll look into it in the copies I have around.

Hi there. I’m a teacher who runs a Middle School TTRPG club and was wondering 1) do you think this is good for 12-14 year olds and 2) do you ever have Community Copies available? Thanks for your time. Congrats on the Ennies!

Hi there! Nothing in the book is explicit exactly, but there's some horror and some abilities that have pretty challenging themes for young people (some intense violence, some sexual undertones.) I'd say the book itself is pg-13 but it expects the output to be pretty adult. Triangle Agency is also structured in an atypical way, and expects players to do a lot of interpreting the text for themselves and examining the consequences of their choices. We don't currently have plans to put up community copies!

Ok that helps. Thanks for the information I appreciate it.

of course there’s horror, but I’d say you can adjust it to the liking of the kids. throw an x card in and it’s solid

And well most kids nowadays have heard of squid games, so it’s not like major violence is anything new.

(+3)

I was sitting in the back of the Ennies this evening and listening to the passion you all have for this game makes me ready to give it a shot as soon as possible!

(+1)

Thank you!!! I hope you enjoy it!

I’m hoping to pick it up soon!

(+1)

Absolutely astonishing design! You can see conscious thought in every little mechanic and every little streak on the page. What software did you use for typography and vector art?

(+2)

Typographical edits and vector art were mostly done by Michael Shillingburg or Ben Mansky in Adobe Illustrator!

Hey there! This game was recommended to me by Queer Changeling, it looks so cool! I’m currently doing research for my master's thesis on designing TRPGs for social change. Would you be interested in connecting to chat about the topic and your work? :)

Sure thing! Shoot me an email at team@hauntedtable.games!

Sent!

(+2)

Genuinely the most fun RPG book I've ever read and my friends and I are highly stoked to play it soon!

Commendations question: Can players share their commendations with one another (as one might with a physical currency) to, for example, let one agent buy themselves a more expensive item like a Permanent Meal Plan?

(+2)

Intention is that there's no sharing!

(+1)

Absolutely an incredible book! Haven't played it much at all yet, but just about every single line I've read in this book gets me excited to see it in action.

Though I do have a question or two:

When it comes to triscendence, is there an upper limit on how many 3's you can add to the roll when picking the "all hands" option? Like, are you only allowed to add up to the number of 3's you can possibly roll? Obviously, not having a limit would be insanely broken, but balance is clearly not the highest priority (I mean this in the best way possible, I love how insane all of the abilities are)

And also, is that "all hands" option considered as an "adjustment" for the purposes of not letting you use it to trigger (playwalled document ability that does something on a certain number of 3's)? I'm assuming it does but (ability above)'s description doesn't list it as something that you can't use to get (number of 3's needed to trigger it) like it does with QA's, burnout, and (playwalled option). Otherwise it seems really unlikely to trigger it before (other playwalled abilities).

I guess these can also be a place where house rules would come up. Different groups would likely use different ways to interpret these abilities, dependent on how much power they want to give to the players. Maybe a good middle ground for the first one could be that each 3 past 6 adds chaos.

Either way, FANTASTIC game!

Triscendence: No upper limit. :) All Hands adds any number of 3s they can name, but they have to name the number (It can't literally be "infinite.") A common thing in games I run and play is looking at the actual consequences of it in the fiction of the abilities, though. For example: Growth's "I'll cover you" can be used to add 10,000 layers of protective flesh, but that means you've added 10,000 layers of protective flesh. You're going to be big, and different. Even without that, though, the busted/broken feeling you're describing is intended here. (Though, I should say, it's also intended to be not-obvious, and expected that some tables will ignore it if their players aren't doing a close reading of the text.)

All Hands Adjustment: Yes, it counts as an adjustment--All Hands "adds" threes. Triscendence cannot create the effect you're referring to that's received at code U2 -- the U2 ability just "counts" as Triscendence for purposes of its effects. The ability at U2 is intended to be extremely rare prior to further advancement down that track. I could see an argument at a table as you describe about Triscendence leading into U2, but I think that's both unfun and thematically inappropriate, given that Triscendence exposes everything you do to the entire Agency. Maybe that's my actual ruling: sure, you can do it, but you're revealing enough you won't be employed for long.

Thanks for the close reading!! And if you ever need quick responses, we have a great community over at discord.hauntedtable.games that is always talking about stuff like this.

I have a question:

How many Ripple Guns and Normal Briefcases is the field team supposed to have? Am I right in assuming it's supposed to be one Ripple Gun and Normal Briefcase for the whole group to share?

(+3)

Yes! Just one of each for the whole group, unless you're doing something specific with that mission and the GM gives them extra.

I bought a physical copy of the normal briefcase at my local FLGS, partially based on a conversation a friend had with one of you at PaxU. Looks really cool. Do you have any sort of bits and mortar or physical copy discount for someone who wants the PDFs as a reference for planning?

Hey! We need to look at getting set up with bits and mortar (I've been moving slowly because of a big workload) but for now if you email your receipt to team at hauntedtable dot games I can help out!

Awesome. The PDFs are great, I love the spread option, it really keeps the metatext alive.

(+17)

It is impossible for a game to force you to play by its rules. That’s one of the neat things about tabletop games, especially crunchy ones- you can always resist the designer’s influence.

That said, Triangle Agency is absolutely trying to control you.

This was a great video, it's a great pitch for the game.

(+1)(-1)

I was waiting in the hope of possible seeing community copies, but after taking a closer look at the previews (and also getting paid a good amount for once, that helps) I am gonna buy this. The art and the idea is so fun, especially because I loooooved Control and enjoy this take on that style of game/world.

(+1)

Apologies!  I have another enhancement suggestion- bookmarks in the pdf version of the rulebook would be great also to help with navigation!

(+3)

Yes! Those are coming with our accessibility update, in progress.

Will there be downloadable Mission Report forms (regular and form-filled)? Thank you!

(+1)

We probably should do that! In the meantime, I recommend checking out some of the community-made options, like the Google Sheets character keepers or Foundry module. You can find links to stuff in our Discord, as well!

Thanks a ton!

(+1)

this game is such a blast :D

(+1)

Hi all just letting you know there’s now a Reddit for the game if you want to have a chat and speak/learn more about the game!

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheTriangleAgency/s/AqRFkS2X1F

Hi, Harvie! Thank you for this. Do you mind making it clear on the subreddit's description that it's not an official subreddit, and isn't monitored or controlled by Haunted Table?

Happy to do that, also happy to hand it over to you guys also, just trying to help the community!

(+2)

Any plans or date for a Spanish localisation of the book? I'd love to run it locally, but don't want to translate on the fly. Thanks and keep up the good work!

(+1)

No active plans, but we are looking into it!

(+1)

are there any plans to add pdf bookmarks for chapter titles for easy navigation?

Yes! This has been delayed a little beyond our expected time, but we're working on some extensive accessibility overhauls.

Any update on this?

They're still coming! We had to swap the team working on the project, and it's an even more enormous project than we knew to get there, but it's all hopefully coming at once in the next month or so.

Is it possible to get all the kickstarter stretch goals in the PDF as well, or is that already included?

I'm not sure what exactly you're asking about! Our bonus games are being delivered separately (or already have been and are now available online for purchase), but this book's stretch goals were all art-related, and that's included. If there's something else you're wondering about, let me know!

Oh sorry yes the art! Thank you so much!

Is there a chance the icons in the game (like for chaos, anomaly power outcomes, commendations, demerits, etc.) might get released as assets and added to the third party license? I'm working on some third party stuff and for stylistic reasons and so players can know what they're looking at quickly, I'd love to use them.

(+1)

I definitely want to make this kind of thing happen eventually! I don't have a set timeline for it, though, and it may be a little while. I'll bump it up my to-do list!

Awesome! I totally get having a lot on the to-do list and know you have a lot you’re doing with this game at the moment. Thanks for replying!

How well does the Playwall system work if I'll most likely be running a bunch of shorter games. More than likely with new characters/players everytime

I wouldn't worry about the Playwall if the players are different every game, but if Agents might recur at all, let them keep track of their Time! It's totally fine if Agents are misaligned in total Time spent.

Hey, just bought the core book and the vault missions, might be a silly question but as GM should I read the playwalled content? Or is it meant to be a suprise to me as well as the players?

You can read to whatever level makes you feel comfortable -- If you want the most to work with, I usually recommend GMs read through the Work/Life Balance paths to have an idea where the game is headed! It's fun to let players surprise you with their abilities, though.

Is there no hope to buy the Briefcase Collection for Italy?

We're working on getting our European fulfillment partners set up on our website for now, but: after physical release this year, we'll be distributed in European retail (and online) with Modiphius, and we're also currently working with an Italian translator for a version published in Italy!

I would love to purchase this, but I'm holding off until I can get it in an offset print; 300 pages is too much for a mere PDF to contain!

(+1)

If you're looking for a physical copy, you can preorder one here: http://preorder.hauntedtable.games/ and it comes with the same digital files!

(+4)

The book itself is so immersed in the game world, you can tell its just oozing with love for the project and for gaming as a whole! Liminal horror is one of my favorite genres, and y'all really nail it. The terms and conditions bit at the beginning of the book was a beautiful touch, along with all the other little flavorful bells and whistles. Can't wait to start playing!! Congrats to the whole team :)

(+1)

I backed this on Kickstarter and I'm EXCITED to get playing it.

I have to ask, though, is it possible to get a compressed version of the digital book? 140MB isn't unreasonably huge, but it is very lorge.

(+1)

I am sure it's possible! Manipulating PDFs without removing features and reducing art quality is not something I know a lot about yet, but now that the game is in people's hands we have a long checklist of stuff like this to research and improve! Thanks for asking!

(+1)

Got it down to about 1/3 the size last night! Hope this works better for you!

Much better! Thank you very much!

I've seen some folks just do a 'digital' version that has lower quality art just to make it run better on phones and low power tablets, so you might not have to worr  about making one high quality and also small file size book.

(+2)

Big congrats on the release, Haunted Table team!

Thanks so much!

(+4)

Tremendous work on the layout and the modular/unlockable content. Not only is this game a ton of fun, its good ideas will inspire many more!

(+1)

I hope so!! We are in an era of such fast iteration and innovation in ttrpgs. I hope we can inspire some people to make their games weirder!

(+4)

Absolutely incredible book. This is a labor of love from the entire design team, and it shows in how much care was put into every aspect of the visuals and writing. One of the most interesting and ambitious games I've seen in a while, and one of the few that's making me want to play a full campaign again. At twice the price, it would still be a bargain.

This is so kind!! Thank you.

(+3)

One of the best TTRPG book I've ever read, really amazing art, layout, design and jokes. So fun and interesting to read, really thank you for all that work <3

The game just jumped to the very top of my "To play" list now :D

Thank you so much!!!!
